Blood test 1 week post IUI

Good morning ladies

Quick question: My clinic asks us to go for a blood test one week post IUI to check that I have ovulated. The nurse said that they are looking for anything over 30 (i think). Apparently mine was 92 last time (Nov) so ok. Does anyone know what they are measuring??

I could not make it to the clinic yesterday cus of the snow. Trapped at home by a car that skidded on ice on my street and ditched it against the kerb, blocking my car on the drive...how terrible, I had to work from home again :D Not sure I can make it in til next week now, probably too late for the blood test to show anything meaningful.

it's normally progesterone levels that are checked.

Morning!

Your Day 21 blood test is to check your progesterone levels and to determine whether the levels are sufficient to support pregnancy.

As I understand it from my consultant, progesterone is the hormone that causes the uterine lining (endometrium) to ripen and mature for embryo implantation. A very low progesterone, say less than 10 indicates that you probably did not ovulate in that cycle; between 10 and 17 you ovulated but would not implant and therefore not get a pregnancy, even if you produce an embryo; 17 - 23 you will implant if it is a good embryo, but the lining will probably be too immature to provide the right environment to sustain implantation and embryo/foetal growth such that you may miscarriage either very early on, or have a difficult and unstable early pregnancy with perhaps bleeding then go on to have a miscarriage.

Thanks for your quick replies. Gutted I have not been able to make it in now.....seems rather important that they check. So 92 last time seems very high? Too high perhaps?

92 is fine
I only had my levels done on my second cycle - first cycle was abandoned and on third I did not as I had progesterone support as levels too low on previous cycle - and then again on 5th cycle to confirm levels were better after ovarian drilling. No bloods on 6th and 7th cycles and number 7 I got my BFP.

Generally I would say that if your levels were good last time around then there is no need to panic if you missed this one...
